Cantrell Family Ranch
Veteran Owned and Operated
Our Story
Cantrell Family Ranch is based in Sterling, Colorado and is veteran owned and operated by myself and my husband with our children. Both of us being Military Veterans and First Responders, hope to not only offer livestock for sale and fresh farm eggs but much more as we transition from that to our true goal.
We believe that being outside away from a screen and from chaos, while engaging your mind at the same time slowing it, can create a path to heal and find deeper meaning within yourself and your family.
After my husband served in the military, deployed to Iraq, and returned home, he continued to serve as an investigator in the Military investigating crimes among the Military community. After suffering an injury that left him almost paralyzed and a long road to recovery, it became hard for him to find peace in his own mind. He began to feel disconnected from friends and his own family.
While I was by his side helping him physically recover along with taking care of our home and family as he recovered, I began to see the disconnection along with a change in him. After he recovered the most he ever would physically, he thought that he may find the peace I saw and fell in love with, again serving a community.
He went to serve our communities as a Detective in the State of Colorado, investigating the most heinous crimes in this world. While doing so he saved some many among those being the most vulnerable of our society children.
With daily pain that never went away from his injury, things he experienced overseas, and things he experiences daily investigating some of the most heinous crimes, it once again started to become hard for him to find peace in his own mind. Jamie could see that he again began to feel disconnected from the community, friends, and his own family, even though most never knew or saw.
After being exposed to many complex challenges that many Military Veterans, First Responders, and their families are exposed to, my husband and I set out for a new path to peace leading us to the creation of the Cantrell Family Ranch.
We found that just being around horses and livestock spending time around the farm with our children, along with spending time caring for these animals has allowed my husband to find this peace and a deeper understanding of himself, his new path in life. As he finds peace everyday being around the Ranch it has allowed him to create a better, more productive connection with our children, me, and the community.
As Cantrell Family Ranch expands and continues to evolve, we hope to offer Therapeutic Equine sessions among other things for those that have seen or deal with Trauma, especially for our First Responders, our Military Veterans, and their families.
